I don’t think so I think he has done a great job for Dallas so far and its to early to fire a coach after goin 13-3 in his first season.

Jerry already stated that that was bull and phillips is staying

Remember they lost as a team. Maybe T.O. can cry for him too.

xxx no i do not think so matter of fact i think the cowgirls and company should pack there bags and relocate to the north pole.

sounds like something jones would do…maybe he should ask tyrell owens

jerry jones is the only coach on that team and wade is his puppet.

i think that he deserves to kep his job but nothing surprises me from that ego-maniac Jerry Jones. If he wants he has enough money to keep garret around until he is fully groomed for the head job. Phillips got a lot out of that team. They lost a good game to a fairly good team.

No he did a great job this year. He wasnt on the field when they lost to the Giants. He didnt committ the penlties or drop passes. Phillips did his part as the head coach to prepare them for the game they just could pull through

Well, even though I have always maintained that I think Wade Phillips kind of sucks(see Denver after Dan Reeves but before Mike Shanahan with Elway and Buffalo from ’98-’00), he did bring them farther than I thought they would go…I doubt he gets fired…unless Jerry Jones is so egomaniacal that he plans to coach himself…

Yes. Fire him. His dad was a Bum, and so is Wade. That was a horrible interception that he threw at the end of the game, and he missed tackling Toomer on that short pass and let him go 50+ yards for a TD. I mean, the guy can’t pass, he can’t tackle. What good is he? I bet if Garrett was coach, they never would have called such a stupid play at the end of the……..wait, Garrett IS the offensive coordinator. That’s the moron you want running your team???

Why would Jones fire Wade Phillips? So the Cowboys lost to the Giants in the playoffs. It was a team loss. You can’t place blame on one person. Not on Wade, not on Tony, no one person. Everyone contributed to the loss.

Besides, after Bill Parcells left, Jerry Jones spent a lot of time looking for the next head coach and decide to pick Phillips because he thought Wade was the best man for the job. And by all means, let Phillips do his job and don’t fire the man.

    Wade Phillips should be around
for another year, The Big Tuna had
built a pretty solid team before he
retired, so Phillips had very little to do.

Philips was too pass oriented. When we needed a running game, we couldn’t get squat, even with the guys that had been there for the past two years. But I don’t see Garrett getting the job. He’s been a coach for who long? A couple years? Not a very impressive resume despite everyone spewing out how he’s the next best thing. He’d probably flounder in his first gig.

I think that’s just what you said it is – a rumor. The players have obviously responded to Wade Phillips, playing a better game all in all. Granted, they had the same result – loss in the playoffs, but all in all, the team is better than it was last year. I think Garrett needs to stay in the system, I’m not sure he’s ready for a head coaching job. One or two more seasons like the Cowboys had and he will be able to take his pick of coaching jobs. A lot of teams are on the lookout for offense minded coaches, but he’d help his stock by staying put and showing just how good he is.

No, despite Phillips has not won a single playoff game you have to give the guy credit, getting the Cowboys to the playoffs with a 13-3 record, the best record in the NFC. Phillips should not be fired, but I think the Cowboys major concern is their running back situation, (Barber looks like he may take over Julius Jones job next year).

  16. Dave - June 10th, 2009 at 8:22 am

No i think some changes need to be made for the Cowboys in the off season, but i think that Wade Phillips should keep
his job as coach of the Cowboys

  17. Lief R - June 11th, 2009 at 5:46 pm

It won’t happen & if Jason Garrett gets an offer to coach for a team in the NFL, then he’ll go for it! Jerry Jones isn’t that crazy enough to let go of Wade Phillips – not by a long shot!

  18. Mulvi - June 11th, 2009 at 8:55 pm

He’s not going anywhere. If they have the same regular season record next year and lose in their first playoff game then i bet you he gets the axe.

  19. $so fresh so clean$ - June 12th, 2009 at 5:28 am

Give it a while. He will be in around 2 years. Guaranteed.

  20. Tommy R - June 12th, 2009 at 9:40 am

I’m a Cowboy hatter. But I think Phillips should be fired. He has a loosing record in the playoffs. And the team down the stretch played awful. But I’m not sure how they could have Garrett as the head coach. I mean he’s only been on the sidelines as a coordinator for 1 year.

  21. catchercubs - June 15th, 2009 at 12:12 am

I don’t think he should be fired, but there were rumors last year when he was hired that he would only be around for a year before Garrett was promoted, so it wouldn’t surprise me.

  22. no name - June 16th, 2009 at 6:57 am

hes got his team to win their division and into the play offs all in his first year as coach that’s a big accomplishment, how many coaches that have been with their teams for years can say that? so to answer your ? you must be outta your mind!

  23. body94 - June 17th, 2009 at 2:06 am

Yes. I know they lost as a team and I saw all the mistakes and penalties, but coaches will always be held responsible for their teams failtures. The Cowboys had a great season. But failure to produce in the post-season can erase all that (ala Shottenheimer). It wasn’t Wade’s first season as a head coach and his post season track record is what it is. The playoffs require a whole different level of focus and a coach who can keep his players motivated to play at the level of their talent. He had two weeks to prepare them and he gave them a vacation. The vacation doesn’t start until you get elimiated or win the SB. They should have all been focused on the importance of ending the 11 year playoff drought. They simply didn’t come to play. He’s proven already that he is too passive to lead a team to a championship.
